Countdown from dead week, drawing, college

so it's definitely not identical, but for me, it's pretty good.
i sent a picture to my brother. he asked, "sweet! is it a Roman gladiator?". i said, "no, a ballerina." he replied, "oh, that would have been my next guess." what a dork!

Countdown till first year is over. :'( / :D
  • 12 days
  • 5 classes
  • one poster presentation
  • one painting
  • one photoshop drawing
  • 4 more dark room prints {one of which is a 16x20}
  • one photo history final
  • one real weekend of fun in Logan
  • a LONG list of clean check stuff
  • Packing. BOOOOO!
AH! so so so much to do!
I'm having a hard time balancing fun and homework right now because i don't want to miss anything in the time that i have left in Logan before i have to go back to Orem to work. boo. It is so worth going to school for 4 years, being poor, working really hard, etc to be able to do what i love. There is nothing that reminds me of this better than going back to an hourly job at a grocery store. Although it's not an awful place to work, i'd never be able to do it full time for the rest of my life. I don't understand how people can. I very very thankful for the opportunity i have to attend College. I also grateful that i love it so much! It's like i've been waiting for this moment {college} to happen for years! I hated all the useless classes i had to take in high school, but because i did most of them concurrently i don't have to take nearly as many generals in college. Killing 2 birds with one stone is the way to go. Moral of the story-find something you love, go to school to be able to do what you love, then do what you love to do for the rest of your working years. SOOOOO much better than the alternative. {i should be the spokeswoman for furthering education. :P}

i'm now going to go read my photo hist text book. wish me some luck with not zoning out.

my day consisted of....

ART

I drew-
  • the eiffel tower
  • my great grandma's necklace
  • a lady walking a dog
  • a couple holding hands
  • a lady riding a bike
  • a cloud
  • a tree
  • a shrub
And painted-
  • a yellow flower
  • a leaf
  • a metal railing thing.
hours spent-
over 12. TWELVE!!!!!!! it was death.

you should have seen my hands. I think they are permanently stained.

i'm sorry. i'm really boring today. I'm still recovering from no sleep two nights ago.
but on the bright side i at least have a good youtube video for you. My brother showed this to me like 6 months ago and i just remembered it.

no, i do not wish for all vegan food on campus!

item numbero uno- my. BFA. Review./interview. shin dig. thing. is. DONE!!!!!!! it is a beautiful thing. And surprisingly i think i did really well. Like the professor said some really good things about my portfolio. he said that i have a really unique design style that he said was good. :D yay! uniqueness! so, glad that that is over with. Hopefully i will get in this year so i don't have to do it next year.

item numbero dos- i gave into peer pressure. :( here i was at the library minding my own business writing my report on the cyanotype process for photo history class. My laurenita was next to me watching the notebook (i believe) when this hippie-like lady walks up to us and shoves 2 really sharp and hard clipboards at us. And then says "have you peopleages signed this yet?" i said what the heck is it for?". she says it's to get all eating establishments on campus to go with all vegan food. ummm........ no offense to all of you non meat gnawing/dairy drinking/yogurt chugging/ deliciousness eating people who call themselves vegans, but i do not wish to eat only vegan food when i need a snackage on campus. {i mean, a scotsman dog just would not be the same without real meat and cheese. and those things are apart of the aggie tradition here in logan.} but here i am staring at the paper while miss hippie vegan is giving me the look of death and i sign the paper. BUT heres the good news. i put a fake signature and fake email address down..... so does this still count as giving in to peer pressure? i mean, i didn't do drugs or get drunk or anything so it's fine right?..... whew, what a relief.

swing dancing last night was the bombdiggity. we walk in to the "fun park" {which by the way does not sound fun.... i mean it kinda reminds me of the name loony bend. if it's really that much fun why do they have to have it in the title? you'd think people would know it's fun if it really is. I am now going to start a petition, like the vegan girl did, to change the name from "fun park" to something more unique like- cool park, or awesome possum park.} and there were very few }in comparison to other times i have gone} people {which includes the population of cowboys}. but, i did notice this nice looking guy and thought to myself, "self, i would like to dance with that attractive guy at some point in this night." i mentioned this to betsy and she said "then ask him to dance!"
but did i? NO!
why? because he asked a girl every dance!
so i was just standing there not really thinking of anything in particular when out of nowhere mr tall, pale, and attractive asks me to dance.
coincidence? i think Betsy paid him. jk jk
he was uber {really} nice. and wasn't the best at country swing but hey! neither am i. so we got to talk more. and did i mention that he was nice. well me being the lame sauce un brave girl that i can be didn't get his number. haha {not that i would have even if i was un brave cause i talked to him for one dance. but still}.
the second part to this story is better. there was this guy that kept walking back and forth and betsy kept staring at him. She's obsessed to the max with black guys and he was just that. so while betsy is making googly eyes at him i tell her that she should ask him to dance. to which she begins to reply, "no" but is interrupted when he comes up and asks her to dance. i thought she was going to hyperventilate/pass out/die/have a heart attack all at the same time. but she succeeded in dancing and now she can check off "dance with a black man" off her bucket list. haha
the other funny story. Melissa was dancing and the guy dipped her and she dips, he says dip lower, she does, he drops her and they both fall to the ground. hahahahaha! i heard the story, wish i could have witnessed it but i still think it is just about the best country swing dance story i've heard. i mean, besides all the stories about everyone and their dog finding their eternal companions there... but ya know? i prefer funny to sappy in this instance.

well i am going to go and continue doing pretty much nothing of usefulness since i am a good girl and have all my homework done. :D
since i have no pictures for you today i will share another funny video with you. you can locate it here. and here is another favorite brought to you from me who received it from my hermano Quinton.

being sick=being bored=another blogpost

so the past few days i've been getting sicker. :P BOO! just a dumb head cold. but it's good that it has been conference so i can lounge around my apartment in my PJ's.
So conference was wonderful! I really really really really enjoyed Elder Scott's talk!
it was super adorable how he talked about his wife and all the thoughtful things they did for each other while being married.
{i love these guys!}
I had my questions answered and worries calmed too. :D

Anyways last night i went with betsy and ashley to my friend Carrie's house for banana splits while all the (good) young lads were off at the Priesthood session. {we were driving around town and someone mentioned that they love not seeing guys out for the night because they are all being righteous. and the ones who aren't there we were supposed to glare at them haha} :D She made homemade caramel syrup and homemade chocolate syrup! and had like 50 toppings for them! They were most excellent.

then we watched the Legends of Zorro. never in my life had i seen it. It was super awesome! Antonia Banderaz is a babe.
favorite line of the movie- "you should put some lipstick on if you're going to act like my mother!" bahaha!

it is with great excitement and enthusiasm that i announce to you that.....................................................
I CHANGED MY INFO ON FACEBOOK!

this is what it now reads-
I'd rather be taking pictures!

I am a Utah State Aggie (WOOT!) and I am an Orem High Graduate! I love to take pictures, read, take pictures, have fun, take pictures, and go to Aggie athletic events, etc. I have the BEST roommates in the world. We have a ton of fun, weird conversations, do random spur of the moment things, and enjoy once a week roommate bonding night/i hate boys night/i hate scratchy sock night by eating ice cream and watching a chick-flick.

goals include- dating a cowboy, kissing in the library, traveling to Europe, learn how to control the TV/DVD in my house in Orem, perfect the art of making gravy, Photograph an elaborate wedding, fly a plane, pull an all nighter, become an expert in Facebook stalking, own a 4 door jeep, play red rover in the middle of a large intersection, have someone named after me, have a baby boy before Ashleigh so i get the fought after name, own a horse, go on a sleigh ride, turn 20, fly in a hot air balloon, kiss under mistletoe, take a successful photo of the moon and it's craters, own a legit ranch, marry in the temple, have an adventure every day of my life with him, and live happily ever after with my very own Mr Perfectly Imperfect. :D

cool beans eh?
so now because the only thing i have to do is blow my nose and take a second nap of the day i will explain my fun to goals to you! :D

dating a cowboy- pretty self explanatory. i once read this-

"If he has snakeskin boots and a wide brimmed hat, your hearts a fluttering! He is fearless, loves to get down and dirty, and not afraid of hard work. He is a loyal family man, and wants to provide for them in any way possible. He loves riding horses, training horses, caring for livestock, agriculture and has a deep love for dogs. He is not one to rely soley on his physical skills, as most Cowboys are also highly intelligent. Not only is he good on the farm, but he's also talented at sweet talking you and could lasso your heart a mile away. There is no shortage of charm with the Cowboys, for them chivalry is not dead and never will be. For a rough and tumble type, he really does have a soft inner core when it comes to loved ones, and he isn't afraid to show it. "
Although not all of this is why i want to date/marry/beinlovewith a cowboy, it gives you the most of it. they are just SO adorable, and are at the essence of being gentlemen. sigh.

next-kissing in the library. there is a quote on our P4 quote wall of awesomeness that reads, "i want to kiss passionately in the library."-Brianna...... so i just have this dream of kissing someone in between weathered old paper and metal shelves okay? give me a break. it could be worse. i just think kissing in the library is somehow very romantic. :D
{only i will not kiss a guy if they are wearing that tight of a shirt}

Traveling to Europe- I want to travel the world, europe being the first place i'd go outside the US. (i've already been to Canada). I want to go to Italy (#1) and Greece (#2) the most. I want to bring my camera and 6 cajilion memory cards to document ever milisecond of this adventure. And i need to go before i get married {not that this is happening soon} because everyone knows that after you get married you
  • Become boring
  • become even more poor
  • boring
  • and then more poor.
so obviously in the next 2 years is the most ideal time to travel the world.

learning how to control the TV/DVD at my house in Orem probly sounds ridiculous but you don't understand. There are at least 20-5000 cords and for some reason it's not as simple as pushing a button on the remote that the TV changes from cable to dvd to vcr back to cable. there is a series of un plugging, plugging, jamming, yelling, hoping, but mostly praying to get it to work. and i can never remember the order of how things work. So whenever i go home to visit, if i'm yelling from the basement for someone to help, my family doesn't reply or come. Because they know they will then have to help me figure it out. the only thing is that i hate it when they just do it, cause then i never can learn it. so i always make them teach me how to do it. But i still don't ever remember..... So therefore, this is a hefty and worthwhile goal of mine. :D
perfecting the art of making gravy- my mom, and grandma, and great grandma, etc. have this delicious way of making gravy. and i know how to make it, i just never can make it taste as good as theirs. they don't ever use a recipe so it's hard to make it exactly as theirs. i'm getting better, i just need more practice. and one day, my daughters will be saying the same things as me. :D

photograph an elaborate wedding. i want to take picture's for a waaay expensive wedding. one with name cards on the table, and where they serve dinner that cost over 200 a plate. :D there would be so much to take pictures of and it would be a dream come true for me. :D

fly a plane. It's my grandpa in me. He was in the air force. and i want to learn to fly an airplane. one day it will happen. and you all will be jealous.

pull an all nighter. don't make fun! I've tried! but i always fall short of it. And everyone always tells me that they do it because they procrastinated writing a really huge paper or project. but here's the problem- i physically cannot procrastinate. It stresses me out! and i do not do well with an overload of stress. so, i take the stress off of myself and get things done early. which in return prevents my goal of pulling an all nighter less possible.

Become an expert in facebook stalking. I'm pretty daggon good at this already but even i can improve a little more.

own a 4-door jeep. Because they are sexy! okay okay, i want my future husband to own one. But either way, i would own it. :D preferably a navy blue or yellow one.

play "red rover" in a busy intersection. Would this not be legit?!?! "red rover, red rover, send one mini van over!" i think it would be the highlight of anyone's life.

have someone named after me. story time! i've never shared that with anyone before but i have news! it might happen!! i got this random text from ash and it said, "so nathan has our first daughter's name picked out." i said, "and that is...?" and she said, "jocelyn NICHOLE." AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! that's my middle name!! and i know that it's not even my first name, but who cares?!??!!?! so this dream might in fact come true one day. now, ashleigh and Nathan just need to have a niece for me. :D

Having a baby boy before Ashleigh does. so growing up us girls like to come up with names for our future kiddos, right? well ash and i have the same name for our first born sons. And now that she's married i have not-so-secretly put a curse on her to only having girls until i have a boy first. the name- James. After our grandpa. :D and i am bound and determined that that name is mine!

own a horse- if i marry a cowboy this should be a piece of cake. If i don't, then i want to raise my sons as cowboys. so then they can make other girl's dream of marrying a cowboy come true one day. ;) jk jk. but a horse would be neato to have.

go on a sleigh ride. like a legit horse drawn sleigh in the winter where it would lightly snow throughout. and this, would be perfectly romantic too! :D

turn 20- i'm less than 10 months away. Hopefully i don't die before then. I feel like i've been a teenager for far too long. don't get me wrong, i've had the most wonderful teenage years ever, but still. 20 finally sounds grown up. :D

fly in a hot air balloon. sounds scary, sounds pretty awesome! i just read a book once and there was a couple scenes where there were hot air balloons. And i want to go in one now. :D

kiss under mistletoe. (i know, another kissing one){my friend tara made a list of all the places she wants to be kissed and told me i should do one too.... so i did...... but that is for a different post.....maybe.} i know this is cliche but who cares!

take a successful photo of the moon and it's craters. i have attempted this 4 times. and failed more than miserably every time. i need a better lens.

own a legit ranch- once again, this whole marrying a cowboy would make this easier.

get married in the temple- DUH!

have an adventure ever day of my life with him- i always feel ridiculous when i say this but my greatest goal in life is marrying my very own perfectly imperfect {for me} man in the temple and live happily ever after. I would give almost everything up i ever wanted (see random goals above) to have this.

anyways i'm done being cheesy for today.
i'm going to go take some drugs and hopefully get over my cold.

loves and hugs too,
Bri

and so it goes from 10 to 11

Happy 2011 ya'll!
gooooooood heavens it's been a while. like last year since i posted! woooah!
Is it possible that a ton has happened since the dumb dr pepper can exploded but nothing at all at the same time?
good news! i curled my brother's eyelashes today! haha.
here is a list of not so exciting things i've done this break.... in no particular order of non excitement-
1- i left my journal in logan. :( so i had to write about my life in a separate notebook and then my friend laurenita brought it up when she came. so then i stapled all of my life into my journal. i was gonna glue it.... but then it was taking too long. so don't worry, i still haven't missed a day in 3.5 years. :D
2- my blind date texted me and said sorry for being boring. ummm... boring was not my problem with him. oh did i mention he swore in the text he sent me? so i told him i don't like cuss words. he never responded back. well see ya!
3-ash got us lost. TWICE! she took the wrong freeway and we were headed probably to italy or something. But i'm un-lost now.
4- the award that is above ashleigh's bed. hahahaha. umm... not gonna say what's it's for.

10 bridger (Q's friend) saying "i broke my butt over summer.......aren't you gonna ask me how i broke it?"
10- i met david archuleta. okay i really didn't. but i saw him in person. and he is a b a b e. i'm going to see him at the temple one day....
11-finding out my GPA. yeah. 3.85. jealous? Ash is.
12- the USU vs UVU BBgame. we WON! booya!
13- car following. 2 "attractive guys" that turned out to be 1 ugly guy and 1 girl with short hair. I don't succeed at looking. haha
14-learning that my friends and i are the only ones that didn't have a date the car following night.
15- ash being a baby hog at church. here's ash holding a happy baby. happy baby. oh crying baby here bri, you can have him. gee thanks ash. don't worry i rocked said baby to sleep.
16- harmons. i like my new managers a lot better than the old ones.
17- Taylor at work not being able to subtract. hahah. p.s. you better come visit me in logan!
18-the letter we got in the mail that was addressed to "the parents of dean" my dad. hahah. it was like jr high grades coming in the mail all over again.
19-taking our family pics in our living room. Ash and Q acting like their legs hurt from it. as if! haha it was really funny.
20-the picture frame i got for nathan and ash for christmas. kandi jumped on it and it shattered. thanks dog.
21-I met caitlin! she's a doll. and my favorite 7 year old girl.
22-this drunk guy that came into work in a long black coat made of fur. he had pink pj bottoms on underneath it and then said he had a fish in his pocket. he told me his wife was pregnant and she sent him to the store for pop corn kernels. keep in mind he was in his late 50's. weird.
23- the riverwoods with laurenita and papaanne.

29- Q pretending to be paula dean. "what would paula dean do?" "paula dean is with us tonight!"
30- our annual christmas eve carols. Q's singing. hahah.
31-Q's wrapping of my presents. they take like 5 minutes to open.

41- mario kart at papa annes' house. i think i got last place in every race except one. video games are not my best point.
42- o my gosh! the night i worked and then entire night the same 20 minutes of music played over and over and over and over and OVER AND OVER again! i've never been so sick of billy joels' uptown girl before. apparently the satellite was covered in snow so the radio signal was blocked. taylor said he didn't think it was playing over and over again. you were wrong. i was right. :P
43- taylor broke the toy car i was playing with too. But he did give me chucky cheese coin back. haha.
44-decoratin Nathan's house with ash. for his bday.
45- falling off his couch and breaking his fern. betsy said, "aww cute! they have a love fern!" yeah, and i broke it. I'm sorry !! it was ashleigh's fault. she's a bad throw.
46- emilie breaking his chair while decorating. hahahahaha.
47-ash texting him and saying that her ding-bat sister broke his legs and another limb. haha
48-SLEEPOVER WITH MY BESTIES!

59-MARCOS coming to visit! i love this cousin! he's awesome. "this picture give's me butterflies." "then ask her out!" " i can't. i'm too old for her." "do it!" "i'll ask this guy out if you ask her out." "no! you can't ask him out! he has to ask you out! If he doesn't then he's not worth it." "okay i won't ask this kid out if you do ask her out." good advice marcos. thanks!

this one time.....

so in college i have a lot of "this one time" i...... you fill in the blank (cause i probably have done it).
college is full of doing things that are weird events....or random things.....or even dumb things....or just plain firsts.
in honor of this i will now blog about a few.....

so this one time.... betsy and i went grocery shopping at 11:30 at night. and we also had to walk across a wood plank that could have easily broken under our weight sailing us into the dreaded canal. (which was probably only 4-4.25 inches deep) i'm not kidding you! This is NOT a joke. We could have walked around the canal, but it would have taken at least 3 minutes longer to do. And when you are carrying groceries (including a gigantic gallon of COLD milk) 3 minutes seems like half an eternity. but luckily we have really good balance and didn't fall into the nasty slimy canal.

also
this one time..... we didn't fall through the ceiling while trying to get into the attic.... 'nuff said.

this one time..... we beat the socks off of BYU!!!!!! (which is a first in 17 years!!!!!) and we rushed the field and partied like it was 1999. (by going grocery shopping cause no one showed up to the after game party... which i still don't understand why)

this one time...... i made a birthday cake in the shape of lips. why you may ask? i'll answer with a question to you- WHY NOT?!

also this one time i FINALLY got to go home for conference! And i found several things- 1 that Quinton has seriously grown up! like he's gotten at least 2 inches taller and his shoulders are getting so dang broad! gee whiz it's weird how much he's changed in only 5 or so weeks. 2- mom's still a fantastic cook. i enjoyed really good home-cooked meals that probably made me gain back 2 of the 10 ish pounds i've lost since starting school. But it was worth it. And i even ate veggies (which are a non existent thing in most of my meals. 3-that i sincerely missed being at home and laughing at old memories until my sides hurt, playing BS with the fam, my grumpy dog, shopping with my sisters, and just my house. (even though my room has emilie's stamp on it now. :(

this one time i did what i know to be the right thing. and it was absolutely ridiculously hard. And i cried and probably had swollen, blud-shot eyes for 2 days straight. I think if i would have known how hard it would be before i did it, i wouldn't have done it. So it's good i didn't know because i got the reassurance that i needed during Lawrence's conference talk. But it doesn't make it any easier.... well, at least not that much easier.

this one time i made some mean jumbalaya!! and everyone thought it tasted good. :D cause it did. And i savored it (actually it was gone in like 5 minutes) but still...

these one times i had the weirdest conversations abut things that i never ever needed to know.

anyways, that's some of college. I really enjoy my sleep, TV dinners, conversations with people from home, and have learned even more about trusting the spirit and relying on prayer and knowing even more that the gospel is true and that missions are of utmost importance especially to young men.

it's now past my bed time (okay it's actually before i usually go to bed, but it would be a good thing to get to bed before midnight occasionally right?...)

Homesick-The state of missing my Orem

Leaving home, i never thought would be as hard as it is. I was excited to live on my own and make new friends, live in a new city, go to college, and have (what everyone is telling me is) the time of my life. Don't get me wrong, i really do like it here, i just am missing everything Orem.

Dad- the ability to talk to him, the best shoulder to cry on, his peanut M&M's, his laugh that makes him bounce, his inability to say the word aluminum. I love you dad

Mom- her advice that i wouldn't always listen to, her yummy food, her care, her stories, her funny sneezes (hesh) i love you mom

Ash- her boy advice, our laughs, our movie quotes, our adventures, our photoshoots, teasing her about getting married, what she always says when i tease her about it. I love you ashleigh

Q- his youtube videos, his strange voices, how he says goodbye, his jokes, his ability to make me laugh even when i am mad at him, his sporting events, his annoying friends. I love you Quinton

E- her wanting advice, her love of romance novels, her asking me to take her places, our bachelorette watching parties, her willingness to take all my junk (:P) I love you Emilie

Kandi- her kisses, her protection, holding her, how easy it is to tick her off, all the nick names we have given her. love you chubbs!

Brayden- the face he makes that makes me laugh, our talks, our random list of activities and the inability to do most of them, his computer skills, his family too. love you Brayden

Sara- her random outbursts of songs from chess, her English editing skills, calling her Papa Anne, her fashion tips, and her sarcastic personallity. I love you Papa Anne

Orem High- the stained ceiling tiles, my ghetto locker, Miss Tuttle, Mr. Downs, Yearbook class, learning days, peter the pickle, the beloved lunch room table, sluffing class to go to the zoo or the movies or to lunch or wherever, being able to miss class and still survive, the old building that i'll never see again, all my friends and most of my acquaintances there. I love you Orem High

home cooked meals- not having things from a box, not cooking it myself, coming home to the smell of a great dinner, the ability to make something at want.

my own room- my orange wall and closet, the pictures from my wall, my bed, being able to leave stuff out, privacy. I love you room!

having a vehicle to use- being able to drive and not have to take the bus, being able to go places further than campus, visiting places. I love you van!

having a job- I complained about my job. It really wasn't that enjoyable most of the time. But now i can't find a job and the money that isn't coming in anymore is so scary! I understand the reason why college kids eat top ramen all the time!
